High and luminous flat to be updated in Eixample Esquerra

Bright flat to update with two entrances, the first one for service with its own bedroom and bathroom, in Eixample Esquerra.

The property has a 127sqm constructed area, of which 114sq m is usable accommodation, and its distribution has been designed in a spacious and well-used space, optimising the possibilities of the property, being this square space, without corridors.

The living area consists of a spacious living-dining room and a kitchen.

The sleeping area has 4 bedrooms, one of them ensuite and with access to the terrace, another double bedroom and two singles. In this space there is also another complete bathroom.

The original nucleus of the Antiga Esquerra de l’Eixample is formed by the parish church of Sant Josep Oriol, between the streets of Diputació and Urgell, and the building of the University of Barcelona (UB), built in neo-Romanesque style in 1882 by the architect Elies Rogent.

From this initial group of buildings, the neighbourhood developed over the railway tracks (MZA), around the Ninot district, which was born in the eighties of the 19th century because of a popular tavern. This establishment had a doll as a decorative element, which ended up giving its name to the entire restaurant and entertainment area that was located in the surroundings of an open-air market, the direct predecessor of the current municipal market that was built in 1931.

The creation of the Hospital Clínic and the Faculty of Medicine in 1907, and the creation of the Ninot Market in 1935, served to boost the area and to attract developers interested in building housing, especially from the 1930s onwards, in different styles and aimed mainly at the middle classes.

The burying of the railway tracks that ran along Calle de Aragón and Avenida de Roma allowed the construction of middle-class housing to begin in the 1930s.

Of its more recent history, the complete renovation of Carrer de Enric Granados stands out, which has become a civic axis that has reactivated the commercial and restaurant fabric of the area. It is also worth mentioning the complete refurbishment of the Ninot Market and the demolition of the old fire station.
